Mary M. Massimo, Ph.D

Senior Advisor to The Alan S. Harris Group, Mary brings over 25 years of executive and human resource management experience from her work with leading U.S. and global companies.   She has filled the role of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) across diverse industries ranging from Capital Markets and Wealth Management, to Forest Products, to Cosmetics and Beauty Products. Mary’s unique background in psychology and consulting has allowed her to not only lead all aspects of HR in those industries, but also to partner with executives at all levels in talent management, coaching, change management, team-building and strategic organizational development.
 
Financial services companies have engaged Mary to help design and realize significant organizational change. These include Drexel Burnham Lambert, Inc., where she headed up Human Resources for the Sales and Trading division during their period of stellar growth; Swiss Bank Corporation where, as head of HR for their investment banking subsidiary, she addressed the human capital management challenges of integrating U.S. acquisitions, ultimately becoming Executive Vice President of HR for Capital Markets in North America; and GreenPoint Financial, a $23 billion New York-based banking institution, where, as EVP of HR she managed the strategic integration of two major West Coast housing finance companies.      
 
Additionally, for 5 years Mary managed the wide-ranging human resource needs of Rockefeller Financial Services, Inc. Her role encompassed all executive HR functions for Rockefeller & Co., Inc., a full-service wealth management firm, Venrock Associates, a highly successful venture capital business, and affiliated Rockefeller enterprises and not-for-profits, while providing advice and counsel to senior Rockefeller family members through the Rockefeller Family Office. Most recently Mary was EVP of HR at REVLON, Inc., working with the CEO and Board of Directors through a global consolidation and re-capitalization of the company. Earlier in her career, Mary spent 9 years at International Paper Co. in both line business and corporate HR roles. She simultaneously managed HR for the chief executives of both Consumer and Industrial Packaging. She also spent 2 years developing and implementing IP’s Quality Management program.
 
 
A Ph.D. in Psychology from Fordham University, Mary has been a clinical diagnostician in treatment settings, as well as a professor of Psychology at Fordham University and at St. John’s University. She has been a Management Consultant to Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith, Inc., The Psychological Corporation and City University of New York. Mary also holds an M.A. in Psychology from Fordham University and a B.A. in Psychology from the College of New Rochelle. She is a long-time member of the American Psychological Association and the Human Resources Planning Society.
