Debbie is part of the Counseling Services Practice at The Alan S. Harris Group. Most recently she was with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, where she served as the Associate General Counsel. There she developed extensive North American and international experience and gained a reputation for being a highly skilled, diplomatic lawyer with practical business acumen. While at DTT, Debbie provided claims management expertise and advice with regard to matters such as defense strategy and document production for claims in both North America and internationally. In addition, she acted as a mediator and facilitator for internal dispute resolution. She also advised with respect to regulatory investigations and government requirements as they impacted the organization.
Prior to that appointment, Debbie was the first ever General Counsel for Deloitte & Touche LLP (Canada) where she successfully performed a full range of general counsel responsibilities from managing all litigation against the firm to contract review, copyright and trademark registrations, employment issues and engagement letter review. While at Deloitte & Touche she became a Partner, and served as Secretary to the Board where she was entrusted with full knowledge of the firm’s affairs and provided ongoing legal advice to its directors. Debbie was a regular speaker at internal seminars and workshops on client and engagement risk as well as “Lessons Learned”.
Debbie is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York, a Licensed Trustee in Bankruptcy (Canada) and called to the Bar of the Province of Ontario. Debbie received her JD from Queen’s University Faculty of Law and her BA from the University of Toronto. She currently resides in New York with her husband.
